On August 18th,1995 , China Orient and Lockheed Martin Corporation of America signed the purchasing contract of "ChinaStar-1" satellite and Satellite Control Facility.

    Wu Jichuan , Minister of the Ministry of Information Industry , Zhou Deqiang , Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Information Industry , Chen Shudong , Vice Secretary General of Beijing municipal government , and Li Changan , Chairman of the Board of China Orient unveiled the foundation stone and laid a foundation .

    Mr. Li Chang-an , Chairman of the Board of China Orient inspected satellite manufacturing in America.

    Mr. Hao Weimin , Vice-Chairman of the Board and President of China Orient, and relevant staff, were discussing with foreign experts about satellite quality control issues in America.

    China Star-1 is under test.

    On May 8th , 1997, China Orient and China Satellite Launch and Tracking Control General signed the contract of launching service for "ChinaStar-1" satellite.

    On June 18th , 1997, China Orient and China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology signed the contract of purchasing Launch Vehicle.

    On May 8th , 1998, China Orient and the People's Insurance(Property) Company of China,Ltd signed the insurance agreement for launching "ChinaStar-1" satellite .

    Mrs. Qu Weizhi , Vice-Minister of the  Ministry of  Information Industry , Mr. Li Chang-an , Chairman of the Board of China Orient , Mr. Liu Jianfeng , Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Information Industry , and Mr. Hao Weimin , Vice-Chairman of the Board & President of China Orient ( from right ) were in Mission Command Control Center of Xichang Satellite Launch Center .

    After the successful launch of "ChinaStar-1" satellite, Mrs. Hao Jianxiu(right),Deputy-Director of the State Planning Commission toasted Mr. Hao Weimin , Vice-Chairman of the Board & President of China Orient.

    Mr. Cao GangChuan, head of the General Equipment Department , Mr. Liu Jiyuan, President of China Aerospace Corporation , Mr. Shen Rongjun , Deputy-Director of former Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense , and Mr. Li Chang-an , Chairman of the Board of China Orient ( from right in the 1st row ) watched the launching operation in Mission Command Control Center of Xichang Satellite Launch Center before launching.

    At 18:00 on May 30th, 1998, "ChinaStar-1" was launched successfully by Long March-3B in Xichang Satellite Launch Center.

    On July 30, 1998,"ChinaStar-1" Satellite was put into service on schedule.
